In this session participants will learn to recognize ethical considerations relating to marketing, areas of focus and treatment, populations served, and specialization. Participants will develop an ethical decision making process to ensure they are accurately representing themselves to potential and active clients, beginning with assessment of training, marketing, informed consent, and maintaining effectiveness throughout the counseling relationship.

Learning Objectives for Session:

  • Learn applicable ethical codes from the 2014 ACA Code of Ethics pertaining to accurate representation, specialty areas of practice, and maintaining effectiveness
  • Develop ethical decision making process to improve insight in terms of marketing and representation and determine training/supervision requirements
  • More clearly define terms such as "specialization," "area of focus," etc. as they relate to the 2014 ACA Code of Ethics
